Welcome to Starrsdccts Old English Mastiffs

What the lion is to the cat,

The Mastiff is to the dog.

We are a committed breeder. We offer a lifetime of support to all of our clients. We home raise all of our pups under foot. Our bloodlines include Deerrun,Creekview, and Willowrun. We strive to produce only the best quality mastiffs weather it be for the couch or for show.We strive for the original Mastiff. This means size, drool and temperment. So why settle for less when you can have the best!

This is Starrsdcct's Dragons Lair at six months old

he is 115 pds.

The Mastiff

The Mastiff is a very gentle loving animal. They strive for their human companions. This is not a breed to tie up or just leave in the back yard. They are very sensitive for their size. They can handle the cold better then they can handle the heat.A lot of Mastiffs  have died of heat stroke. So can you handle such a large animal in your house? They are very lazy and laid back.So most of the time they are off sleeping somewhere,so you don't even know they are in the house. They are a slow maturing breed and do not reach their full size until about four yrs of age.The average life span is 10 to 12 yrs.

The Mastiff is the worlds largest dog.The male can exceed 200 pds. They make great companion dogs. They are considered gentle giants. You must socialize your dog,and keep it socialized. This is not a breed to try and make mean.Because it would be hard to control a vicious dog of this size. They make excellent guard dogs.Their size and appearance alone, will usually keep intruders at bay.

Tips when searching for a Mastiff.Make sure you get pictures and pedigrees of the parent dogs.So many times first time buyers fall prey to cheaper dogs, who in turn grow up to have features unlike the Mastiff they dreamed of.No wrinkles, mass or size.Don't let this happen to you.Do your homework. If it seems to good to be true,it probably is.

Don't fall prey to registries that have no meaning. There are alot of registries out there that are not worth the paper it is printed on so buyers beware.Just do your homework.

All of our dogs are AKC registered. If you live in the states that is the only registry I trust. The AKC has strict rules. And you can not just send money and the breed of your dog and ask for papers from them.If your pup was purchased in the states and does not come with an AKC register application,It can't be AKC registered then.If the AKC finds you have lied on any of the paper work you will be suspended. That is why a lot of Back Yard Breeders will not use AKC.They have to many rules. So they go with Continental kennel club or some other type of registration. So don't let them fool you as to why they don't do AKC.

The Mastiff is a large dog,and vet bills on such a large animal can be expensive.Just a routine antibiotic for such a large animal can cost over $100. So can you afford a lifetime of care?

The Mastiff does not eat as much as you would think. They are not as hyper as your German Shepherd,or lab so usually they don't eat as much as they would. So if none of this has turned you away please continue on and enjoy.
